Psychiatry & Medication Management for Women in Recovery

Psychiatry and Medication Management at Casa Capri Recovery for Women

Psychiatry and medication management are important pieces of the recovery process for many women. Every woman admitting to Casa Capri Recovery’s addiction treatment center will meet with our psychiatrist for a thorough, in depth assessment. Our doctor will review previous diagnoses and medication protocols as well as evaluate and discuss current presentation and symptomology. Clinical impressions and evaluations are documented, and a treatment plan is created.

Often women have experienced depression, anxiety and other mental health co-occurring conditions prior to arrival. Some are a result of substance abuse, others pre-dating addictions. Many clients have undiagnosed mental health conditions and have used substances in an effort to manage their symptoms. (self-medicating)

A visit with our psychiatrist is needed to confirm if medications are needed to support mental health as well as determine what medications will assist in the detox process. Ongoing monitoring and assessments by our psychiatrist are an integrated part of the Casa Capri Recovery program. Substances exacerbate mental health conditions so abstinence from addictive, mind-altering substances is an important part of treatment for those experiencing co-occurring mental health issues.

Our Medical team of Addiction specialist, Psychiatrists, Physicians Assistants and Nurses have years of experience working with complex issues and diagnoses of women’s issues at Casa Capri Recovery. If medication is prescribed, our Doctor will work closely with you to find the right medication to help relieve the symptoms.

Medication Monitoring and Refills

If you have been prescribed medications, we understand the importance of monitoring it and will help you every step of the way. We monitor your supply of medication closely and allow plenty of time for prescriptions to be refilled. In most cases, your psychiatrist will want to see you for a medication check prior to refilling. We will make all follow-up visits prior to running out of medication and prior to discharge. Along with the Doctor we will do the following:

  • Have the prescription called in to the pharmacy when you are getting low on medication before you run out
  • Have your prescription picked up from the pharmacy and delivered to your facility
  • Arrange with you or your loved one payment for medications prior to entering treatment
  • Medication times clearly posted in your facility and you will be reminded
  • All scheduled Doctor’s appointments will be made for you and you’ll be notified
