Norco Addiction Treatment for Women

NORCO abuse is incredibly hard to quit and is a heavily-abused prescription opiate. Many addicts who attempt to quit NORCO without professional help will often relapse. According to one study, statistics show that in 2018 more than 130 people a day in the United States die after overdosing on opioids. The average relapse rate for opiates is 52%.

Opiates like NORCO can slow down breathing and heart rate and can be lethal in high enough doses. Also, NORCO abuse using illegally-obtained pills—which may also contain fentanyl and other opiates that are much more potent than NORCO alone—are even more dangerous. 115 people in the United States die from an opiate overdose every single day.

What is NORCO?

NORCO is a brand of opioid analgesics (pain relievers) that contain hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Hydrocodone is an opiate agonist, while acetaminophen is a non-opioid pain reliever. NORCO is available in both immediate-release and extended-release formulations, which are prescribed to treat moderate to severe pain. NORCO is usually taken orally, but can also be administered rectally or intravenously in some cases. Common side effects of NORCO include drowsiness, constipation, nausea and vomiting. Long-term use of NORCO can lead to tolerance, physical dependence and even NORCO drug abuse and addiction if misused.

Is NORCO addictive?

Yes, it can be.  When taken as prescribed, NORCO can be a safe and effective medication for managing pain. However, due to its potential for misuse and abuse, it is important to take this medication exactly as directed by your healthcare provider. Taking more than the recommended dosage, NORCO abuse, or taking it in any other way than prescribed may lead to serious health consequences including addiction.

NORCO Addiction & Detox

When a person is addicted to NORCO, the main goal of treatment is withdrawal and detoxification. During this process, the body will start to adjust to life without NORCO as it rids itself of the opioid. NORCO addiction detox can be difficult due to the potential for severe withdrawal symptoms such as intense cravings, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sweating and more. Detoxing from NORCO should always be done under the supervision of a drug rehab treatment professional to ensure safety and comfort during this difficult time. After detox is completed, long-term treatment such as counseling and 12-step programs can help those who are addicted get the NORCO addiction treatment they need to achieve long-term recovery.

What are the Long-Term Effects of NORCO Addiction?

The long-term effects of NORCO addiction can be devastating. Prolonged use of the drug can cause organ damage, weakened immune system, and a host of other physical and mental health problems. In addition to the physical effects, those addicted to NORCO may also experience financial strain due to their inability to pay for their habit or legal trouble due to the recreational use of the medication. Long-term NORCO addiction can also take a toll on relationships, leading to broken family ties and social isolation. It is important to seek help for NORCO addiction as soon as possible to avoid these long-term risks.

What are the Signs and Symptoms of NORCO Addiction?

NORCO addiction behavior can be difficult to identify. Some of the signs that someone may be addicted to NORCO include: taking more than prescribed, doctor shopping or forging prescriptions, using without a prescription, cravings for the drug, increasing tolerance to the drug, difficulty stopping use despite attempts, continued use despite negative consequences, changes in behavior or appearance, and neglecting responsibilities. If you notice any of these signs in yourself or a loved one, it is important to seek help right away.

How can I Help a Loved One with NORCO Addiction?

If you believe that a loved one is struggling with NORCO addiction, it can be difficult to know how to help. The best thing you can do is approach them in a nonjudgmental and supportive manner. Let them know that you are there for them and willing to provide whatever help they need on their journey to recovery. You may also consider seeking professional help or encourage them to do so.
