Despite the advent of a new generation of smartphones — all embedded with worldwide GPS navigation, Internet access, media player and games too numerous to count — some people still find it too difficult to pick up that phone and make the call that might change their lives.
Here at Casa Capri, we have many former clients who tell us the most difficult hurdle they faced when they finally decided to confront their alcoholism or drug addiction was picking up that iPhone or Android or Blackberry and calling our admissions office staff.
But here’s the thing. When first you toy with the notion that maybe your drinking is getting a little out of hand, or that you’re taking more pain pills than prescribed, or that more than a few of your girlfriends and family members are pestering you to “please talk to somebody,” maybe it’s time to seek help.
And while making a phone call to a women’s alcohol and drug addiction treatment center might be the last thing on your list of things to do, consider this: Whatever your substance of choice, there always comes a time when that drink or drug quits working the way you expect it to. Always. How do we know? We have hundreds of stories from women who distinctly remember reaching a point in their lives where they didn’t want to pick up a drink or drug, but were completely unable to not pick up that drink or drug.
So as you square your shoulders and reach into your purse for that smartphone, take comfort in knowing that the admissions staff at Casa Capri is experienced in addiction treatment — in fact, some of us possess firsthand knowledge. And you can be certain that we’ll be frank and honest when it comes to discussing what might be an addiction issue in your life.
